The Council on Aging of Martin County at the Kane Center is proud to announce the nominees for the fourth annual Sage Awards, a singular event on the Treasure Coast which honors the wisdom and worth of seniors.

Nominated by members of the community, 22 individuals will be recognized for their remarkable achievements and contributions that have continued well into their senior years.  Nominees for the 2019 Sage Awards are Mary Kay Buckridge, Helen Cook, Don Cuozzo, Ken De Angeles, Jane Ditmars, Dr. John Enyart, Bette Evans, Ella Ford, John P. (Jack) Forde, Hank Gonzalez, Diane Graczyk, Rev. Andrew Mahalares, William and Carol Michaud, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Roesch-Sanchez, Robert (Bob) Schneider, Patricia Szczesny, Christos Tsaftarides, Alfred B. (Al) Warren, Robert J. and Carol Weissman, and Ann M. Young.

Awards will be presented in several categories at a dinner presentation on Saturday, March 30, 2019, beginning at 6 p.m. at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club in Palm City.

The guest emcee will be Edward (Ed) V. Ciampi, Martin County District Five Commissioner/Chairman. This year’s honorary co-chairpersons are Robert (Bob) Crandall and William (Bill) Crandall.  Bob Crandall was honored with the 2018 Sage Award for Public Advocacy.

“I am very pleased to be a part of the Sage Awards again in 2019,” said Bob Crandall. “My brother Bill and I invite the community to join us as we honor 22 outstanding people who continue to inspire us with their unwavering commitment to bettering the world around them long after others have settled into a quiet retirement.”

In addition to the Sage Awards, the Council on Aging will present the inaugural Lotus Society Awards. Members of the Lotus Society are recognized for making a significant investment in support of the Council on Aging of Martin County at the Kane Center. These substantial gifts are essential to ensuring that the Kane Center remains the unparalleled resource for best-in-class expertise, healthcare, support services and cultural programming for seniors in Martin County and beyond.

Sponsorships are still available to support this signature fundraising event. Dinner tickets are $125 and can be purchased online at www.kanecenter.org or by calling Rhonda Williams at 772-223-7815.  All proceeds from the Sage Awards benefit the charitable work of the Council on Aging of Martin County, including Meals on Wheels, The Club, Memory Enhancement at the Kane Center, primary medicine at the Day Medical Center, and in-home geriatric care management.
