The Council on Aging of Martin County’s beloved holiday tradition, Poinsettia Power!, raised nearly $85,000 for Meals on Wheels.

The sold-out holiday bazaar, luncheon and fashion show, held December 4 at the Kane Center, will fund the Meals on Wheels program, which provides thousands of fresh, home-delivered meals for needy, homebound seniors in Martin County who would otherwise be on the waiting list for the government-funded program.

“The Council on Aging of Martin County—and its foundational service, Meals on Wheels—celebrated its 45th anniversary this year,” said Karen Ripper, President and CEO of the Council on Aging. “Reaching this milestone would have been impossible without the steadfast support of our community. Poinsettia Power is my annual reminder of how much our community cares about its seniors.”

Erin Guy, WPBF 25 News Mornings

Meet the 2019 Poinsettia Power Emcee!

South Florida viewers wake up to Erin Guy weekdays 4:30-7am on WPBF 25 News Mornings.

Erin Guy joined the WPBF 25 News family in 2011 after working three years at KOCO, WPBF's sister station in Oklahoma City.

Growing up in Monticello, Ind., Erin always dreamed of becoming a journalist. In college, she earned a basketball scholarship at IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) and her degree in Communication Studies and Journalism. Erin started her career in journalism on the West Coast in Medford, Ore.

After chasing storms and covering severe weather in Oklahoma, Erin says she’s prepared for the South Florida hurricane season. As a child, Erin often vacationed in Florida, and she is thrilled to be living in the Sunshine State.

When not at work she is likely spending time with her husband, her baby daughter, Thea Ivy, and their Yorkie, Ellie.
