At the Forefront of "Aging Well"
The Charles and Rae Kane Center is the home of the Council on Aging of Martin County. The Kane Center is specially designed for seniors of all capabilities and walks of life – as well as their families and caregivers – to come together in a secure, comfortable atmosphere where they truly feel at home.
Named for a local couple who have championed senior issues for decades, the $15 million facility was developed through a public/philanthropic partnership, including $5.8 million from public funds, the Florida Legislature and a grant from the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
The Kane Center is a nine-acre wooded campus located on Salerno Road just east of Kanner Highway. It is less than one mile from Martin Memorial South Hospital, the Robert Morgade branch of the Martin County Library System and the Chastain Campus of IRSC.
The Kane Center is a multi-generational space. Though most services focus on those age 55 and above, many concerts, activities and special events welcome visitors of all ages.
Entrance – Universal design offers accessibility, safety and comfort for all ages and levels of physical ability. The exterior features and expansive, covered porte cochere and covered walkways with protected access to all areas of the building.
Town Center – The Kane Center is the first senior center in Florida to use the innovative Town Center concept reminiscent of small-town America. Boutique store fronts offer an array of services for seniors, their families and their caregivers. Features: Free Wifi, Kane Bistro, Nondenominational chapel, Club Room.
The France Langford Theater & Auditorium – We host a variety of fitness classes, clubs, parties, concerts, luncheons and other special events in our theater. Check the Calendar for our upcoming schedule of events. Visit www.thekane.org for information about renting the theater for your event.
The Adult Day Club offers clients a comprehensive array of therapeutic and engaging activities that support their individual needs and enhance their quality of life. The Adult Day Club is a safe, secure and inviting environment to spend the day with features including a dedicated entrance, a bright and spacious indoor area and an outdoor activity space.
Joseph C. & Ann S. Day Medical Center - The Day Medical Center is a full-service primary care practice serving all adults, but particularly those 50 and better. On staff are two internal medicine physicians specialized in gerontology and three nurse practitioners. House calls are available for qualified patients.
