FUN, FESTIVE POINSETTIA POWER! AIMS TO STAMP OUT SENIOR HUNGER IN MARTIN COUNTY

Preparations are underway for the Council on Aging of Martin County’s 14th annual Poinsettia Power! Holiday Bazaar, Luncheon and Fashion Show, the fun and festive fundraiser to provide hot and healthy Meals on Wheels to needy and homebound seniors in Martin County.

Join the Council and presenting sponsor Anchor Home Health Services at the Kane Center on Wednesday, December 4. Doors open at 10 a.m. for shopping in the pop-up holiday bazaar. This year, in addition to the 20 local vendors and artisans, the bazaar will feature a “Grab ‘n Go Board” filled with gift cards and gift certificates and a Chinese auction. Guests can shop, sip a signature holiday cocktail and enjoy live music by Annie Greco.

At noon, doors open for the luncheon. Erin Guy, WPBF 25 News Mornings anchor returns as the guest emcee to lead the program. The three-course gourmet menu is crafted by Executive Chef Christopher Collier, the same chef who prepares up to 350 Meals on Wheels fresh each weekday. Directly following, Rose Meyerowich will host a delightfully curated show featuring fashions from some of the chicest boutiques in town.

In just the last five years, this holiday tradition has helped raise $241,438 which provided 34,492 Meals on Wheels for those who would otherwise be on the waiting list for the government-funded program.

“We cannot accept the idea that seniors in our community might be living in isolation and hunger,” said Karen Ripper, President and CEO of the Council on Aging. “The incredible outpouring of support we see each year during Poinsettia Power is invaluable to our endeavor to end senior hunger in Martin County and to ensure that no senior feels completely alone in the world.”

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at www.kanecenter.org or by calling (772) 223-7827. The Kane Center is located at 900 SE Salerno Road in Stuart.
