Original Highwayman Paintings Art Show & Sale
Tuesday, December 12 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m.

In the early 1950’s through the 1980’s, a group of 26 African American artists known as the “Florida Highwaymen” used vivid and bright colors to display the beautiful untouched Florida landscape. The
Highwaymen were mostly self-taught painters who mentored each other. Excluded from the traditional world of art shows and galleries, the Highwaymen painted on inexpensive Upson board or Masonite and framed their paintings with crown molding (brushed with gold or silver paint to “antique” them). Ben Cowan will be here to showcase a dozen or more Highwaymen Paintings from his collection. They will be available for sale. Proceeds will benefit the Kane Center’s Clubs and Programs.

Swing Sisters

The Swing Sisters lend their world-class vocals to classic girl group songs and your favorite holiday music. This dynamic trio offers the timeless harmonies of the classic singing sister acts of the ‘40s, making it every bit as unforgettable as the great acts of the Swing era whose style and spirit they so faithfully evoke. Clap, dance and
sing-along to your favorite holiday standards with The Swing Sisters. Sponsored by Stuart Lodge and VIP America Home Health Care.
