Since 2016, the Council on Aging of Martin County has celebrated the outstanding seniors of the Treasure Coast through its annual Sage Awards ceremony. The nomination period is now open for members of the public to recognize the people in their lives who continue to do great things with their time and talents.
The Council is accepting nominations in the following categories: Arts and Culture, Community Service, Education, Health Science and Medicine, Military and Veterans Support, and Remarkable Caregiver. Nominees must be age 60 or better and reside in Martin, St. Lucie or Indian River Counties.
The Sage Awards ceremony was inspired by the late Charles Kane who spent his retirement as a government advisor and steadfast advocate for seniors. The awards recognize and thank the individuals like Mr. Kane who see the senior years as a new chapter with new opportunities to make a positive impact on the world around them.
The Council on Aging is accepting nominations through January 31, 2022. Nomination forms are available online at www.kanecenter.org or at the Kane Center located on Salerno Road in Stuart.
All nominees will be honored at the Sage Awards dinner and presentation on March 31 at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club in Palm City. The Sage Awards is the signature fundraiser for the Council on Aging, the longest-serving nonprofit organization in Martin County specifically serving seniors through Meals on Wheels, adult day health and memory care, primary medical care, care management, and cultural and wellness activities for active seniors.
